The Sterling Legend... 1972. "Dedicated to the memory of Jacob Walzer..." A good looking book accompanied by a large useful map insert. One of the few works in this bibliography still in print. Conatser approaches her subject in a thoughtful and careful manner, though she uses the name Walzer throughout. She does a good job interpreting the physical clues of the landscape in the Superstitions and she clearly loves the whole thing. This is a much better work than most, though not the best work on the subject. Nice Barry Storm photo. |
TB: "...an altogether undistinguished book...composed largely of rehashed accounts of earlier books."
CM: "An in-depth, pro/con study of the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine, introduction by Karl von Mueller and epilogue by Robert Morehead III. Probably the most definitive book ever written on the subject."
